When Sam Altman launched ChatGPT, it broke the world. ChatGPT was one of the fastest growing social networks. It acquired records at such a high pace that in four days, it had a record. And ChatGPT was highly capable, but also highly hallucinating.
If you ask ChatGPT anything, it will answer anything because it was not having any boundaries. And because of this, many kind of false information or wrong information was also output given by the ChatGPT.
Many people used ChatGPT in various ways, and surprisingly, the most common way many people used ChatGPT was to just fix the grammar, which for which they don't need ChatGPT in the first place. You can go to Grammarly and do the same thing. However, it's fascinating and it's a very cool idea for asking a seemingly intelligent being a question and to just rewrite your paragraph and give some pointers.
Or maybe you don't want anything to do from the ChatGPT. You just ask questions like a friend or a philosopher or a guide, and they can guide you. And this might give some kind of directions like where we are in the human race.
Perhaps we don't need an artificial intelligence to solve our biggest problems. Perhaps we need to solve our human problems so we don't end up lonely and talking to ChatGPT for support and moral values. Perhaps that is one of the use cases, but because of ChatGPT, many other AI models also came into existence and it accelerated the growth because the growth in AI and its product was too fast and too premium.
And of course, there have been many use cases for ChatGPT. For example, you can go ahead and prompt anything and it could make it as an image. And you would think if any image can be created with a prompt, is there a space for an artist? And the thing is, there will always be a space for an artist because what you are buying or what you are seeing in a painting or an image is not the thing itself. It's the thing through the artist.
For example, take Taj Mahal, for example. You know how Taj Mahal looks. You have thousands of photos of it. But a new artist or an original artist will have some angle or add something, some element to it and click the photo or do the painting through the distorted view. And that's where the artist comes into the picture.
So if you can give a good enough prompt and the ChatGPT can give that prompt, then that is an art in itself. That is your art. However, from your prompt to the art, that distance was short because it was almost instant. But that doesn't stop you from becoming an artist if the artwork created is by something your unique angle and you have a unique angle, unique stamp on that image.
So there was this whole incident of creating animation like the famous animator and some people were enraged, some people were like, yeah, this is okay. And people were divided.
However, the one of the use cases of AI is that it pushes you to get to the next big thing and it enables you to make sure that your creativity or your lack of it can be reflected.
For example, of course, you have an AI which can just generate anything you want. But if you don't know what to ask, what to look for, and ultimately, how to use it in the real world, then there is no use to you.
Perhaps it can be a good hobby and a good hobby-related thing which you do on the side, but you cannot become a main thing.
Let's take a detour and try to focus on the Vibe coding angle of the AI. Coding is often considered as the pinnacle of engineering, IT, and so on and so forth, where intellectual peoples are trained and they have some kind of edge. If you know coding, what you basically have is thousands of robots at your disposal and you can do magical things and create some things and the world is at your disposal.
Consider a product like a messaging app like a WhatsApp. It's some engineer has to code it, have the functionality, all of that, and they need to sell it to the mass market and if they have a good distribution, it becomes a success. The thing with coding was initially, because it's such a high barrier to entry, not many people are good coders or high caliber coders.
So if you create a very high specialized product and there is a genuine demand for that product, then you are guaranteed for success.
But now because of Vibe coding, what has happened is anybody who has a good enough prompt and thinking capability, they can just write or say in detail step-by-step instructions and the Vibe coding apps will basically give you the app.
Of course, it will not be perfect, it will be standardized and there will be some tweaks required, but you can have your MVP ready and in the world almost instantly.
Let me tell you, I am not a coder. I have not learned any coding skills. I know very basic HTML and CSS and that's it. And I always wanted to have some kind of Chrome extension because I thought that's a very basic app which I can create. However, I could not create it. I had many ideas, but I could not create any of the Chrome extensions.
However, when this vibe coding app started becoming famous, what I did, I gave the prompt, my ideas, my thinking, my logic, and my navigation to the wipe coding apps, and it outputted me a whole Chrome extension, which is live in my name. And people are installing it, people are finding it valuable.
So one of the things AI has done, it has taken the power from the select few, and it has distributed the power, it has democratized the power. Earlier for entering into the space of tech, design, app, software, you need to have some kind of skills. Right now, you need to have a thinking skill, thinking hat. If what you think and your logic is still basic, and if you can't navigate to the bugs and sort it out, then you will still be needing the help of the coder.
However, for getting the MVP out of the way or something which you want to create, AI is here to help you and it's helping thousands of people. What AI doesn't do, and also it was not earlier possible, is the distribution.
Earlier also, you can make a very good app or software or anything, but if you don't have the distribution channel, if you somehow can't get in front of the audience, you are destined to fail and that's okay. And what has happened because of the AI, there's so many wipe coding apps, because the barrier to entry is so low, almost all of us have the MVP and it is working, but there is no bias, because there can't be bias for 10,000s of products of the same category, right?
You have a timer app and now 10,000 people can create the timer app because of the wipe coding apps. But that many apps are not required in the market. So 99, 100 will fail and it's okay. So where is AI helping you?
AI is helping you and it is trying its level best to make you realize that your thinking can't be outsourced. You can only make the good use of the AI or better use of the AI when you have your own thinking capability, when you can have the argument capability and steer the AI to your final destination and AI can guide you, help you and then ultimately it is you who you need to execute. You can put everything on the AI. You can give the AI the tools to write a code, a letter, argument.
In fact, you can, people are putting it in the automated machines for customer service and maybe in future they have it in the sales script too.
However, you can't outsource your thinking. Your thinking has to be done by yourself.
And that's how an AI can be a very good tool in the help of a very great thinker and a very okay tool in the hand of the other people. So how you should use the AI?
There are two use cases for AI at the very basic level. One is for yourself. Now in a technological world, if you have any problem which you need a solution for, you can most probably solve it with the help of an AI.
For example, you need to write your local municipality for a certain issue. However, you don't know the bureaucracy or the proper language to write it in. You ask ChatGPT or any other AI and it will give you a beautiful paragraph, letter, anything and it will give it to you.
You want to make a MVP of an app? You can ask AI to do it and it will create it. You want to have some problem solved in your machine, which is only your problem and not many people have it, so there will not be a universal software or app to solve it.
So you can create your own personal software and extension, install it on your computer, and it works amazing for you. But you remain the creator, thinker and the artist.
