When ChatGPT first came out, I was very thrilled and very excited, but the vibe it gave me was it was end of the world. The reason for this is very simple. Everything art was getting disturbed because of ChatGPT.
For example, many people were able to recreate poems or movie plots or some kind of art which was earlier considered only a human-driven thing. This, of course, created a kind of panic because ChatGPT and other forms of AI will eventually enter the territory of art.
Whenever AI progresses, there was always a rebuttal that yes, these are some things which AI or computer or coding could do, but art will always be done by human.
However, ChatGPT changed that. It can create poems, music, painting, and so on and so forth, which are basically a human endeavor, an artistic endeavor, an imaginative endeavor, a creative endeavor.
However, I don't think that's the best use of ChatGPT. I'll give you a simple example. Chess has already been mastered by the computers. There is no way humans are going to beat a computer in a chess game. And there are games which are held between two computers to see which has the best engine, but the best emotional engagement in watching a chess game is only when the humans play it.
Despite their flaws, despite their limitation, we want to see humans compete in a sport, despite we know that a computer, a chess engine at your phone is far stronger than Magnus Carlsen. But that doesn't entice you, right?
The same goes for any kind of art. ChatGPT might in future create a superior movie plot, superior acting, superior painting, so on and so forth. However, as a consumer, do you want to consume that kind of art? Would you enjoy it? I am doubtful.
And there would be two kinds of movies, for example, if it creates movies that one AI has created and one which humans created. And there will be still a sizeable portion of the population who would want something made by humans because they could see the limitation and see the superiority despite that.
Now coming to the point, what is the best use case for ChatGPT then? And it's for things which are not art, which are something which you are getting limited and using the ChatGPT or AI for the leverage of it.
For example, coding is something, it's not a creative art form. It's just a technical skill you learn and you can do many kinds of things. However, it's a difficult endeavor. So for anyone who is not into coding can just write up a good prompt and the ChatGPT or AI can do all the coding and you would have a good amount of applications in your hand.
Of course, to make it amend, to make it tweak and so on and so forth, you would need some kind of technical abilities or maybe understanding why these certain things are not.
However, for all basic purposes, it solves the problem because it often happens that I am doing something and I want only a small tweak in some application on a browser or something like that. But for the very small unique use case, there doesn't exist any software.
Now if I, I can use ChatGPT and ask for any kind of a way to modify an existing application just enough for suiting my needs, and it does that with the help of coding and gives me that extension or API or something like that, and that's the best application of ChatGPT AI. It is to improve your life marginally or maybe to a larger extent or to leverage in a thing which you are not technically aligned.
But if you go ahead and outsource your art to the ChatGPT, then it's a sorry state for you and not for the world or ChatGPT. You should only leverage them for the technical difficulties or for leverage, not for your art.
You do art to express yourself for your own happiness. If you outsource that, where will your happiness go?
